I had to stop and take a photo of this algae-covered canal here in The Hague:
The bright green was an unexpected sight after crossing the street.
September is upon us, so that means the festivities around Prinsjesdag will be starting soon. Read more about Royal September at denhaag.com. The hats are also back in the middle of De Passage (see a previous blog post).
For those of living in The Netherlands, note that there will be a country-wide public transportation strike next Wednesday, September 9 (article in Dutch). The only thing that is legally required to run is the NS train between Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam Centraal.
For anyone who has time on Friday afternoon, you can also go to the Grote Kerk area to have a look inside the latest tram model which will soon be riding around The Hague, the TINA tram (article in Dutch). The tram will be outside the Grote Kerk from 11:30 to 15:00 this Friday. The trams will be added to the tram 2 line from 7 September, so you can also wait and see them in action next week.
Also, for anyone who is a fan of Van Halen: Drummer Alex van Halen given knighthood in home city of Nijmegen (dutchnews.nl).
